We provide bespoke research according to your particular interests at £50 per hour plus reasonably incurred costs. We offer a free initial consultation by telephone, e-mail or online video-conferencing (e.g. Zoom), when we can discuss your aims and how they might be achieved.  See Terms & Conditions for details. 

Alternatively, we offer inclusive packages, your choice of one to four grandparent lines in our classic or premium ranges.  Please contact us to discuss pricing of variations on any of the packages listed below.  

​​Classic Packages

Our classic services involve researching direct ancestors using only statutory birth, marriage, death records, or parish records and census indexes and/or records as far back as can be determined accurately up to three generations (your 3 x Great Grandparents) and presentation of the research findings electronically in the form of an ancestral pdf file; a pedigree chart or charts; and a GEDCOM file.  We also outline the research strategy applied and any suggestions for further research.  All sources identified are fully referenced and relevant entries are transcribed.  The GEDCOM file can be uploaded to most proprietary family tree software (e.g. Family Tree Maker; Roots Magic; Legacy, etc.) and online services (e.g. Ancestry; Find My Past; My Heritage, etc.) to form a family tree. 

The prices for the classic packages are:

One grandparent line:    £500 inclusive

Two grandparent lines:   £950 inclusive

Three grandparent lines:   £1,400 inclusive

Four grandparent lines:   £1,850 inclusive

We research each grandparent's line as far as possible up to three generations - generally eight surname lines (15 individuals) per grandparent.  If successful each grandparent line could result in tracing up to eight of your 3 x Great Grandparents.

Premium Packages

In supplement to the research involved in our classic service, our premium service includes research in a broader range of sources, e.g. wills, newspapers, maps, property documents, migration records, as appropriate to the research task. The results can be presented either electronically or in hard copy in the form of a fully-referenced, illustrated narrative report including images, e.g. relevant places, buildings, headstones, a selection of supporting documents (where not restricted by copyright) and any images you provide which you may wish to include; ancestral pdf file or hard copy; a pedigree chart or charts; and a GEDCOM file.  All sources searched are fully referenced, irrespective of results and relevant entries are transcribed - the prices of the Premium Package reflect the time involved in detailed research and presentation of the results in a comprehensive narrative report.  The GEDCOM file can be uploaded to most proprietary family tree software (e.g. Family Tree Maker; Roots Magic; Legacy, etc.) and online services (e.g. Ancestry; Find My Past; My Heritage, etc.) to form a family tree.  Prices for particular requirements such as bound copies of the illustrated narrative report or hand-drawn family trees suitable for framing can be discussed on application.

All families are different and research may not provide as much information for some as is available for others.  Desktop research can be conducted in UK-based as well as overseas sources.  On-site research would generally be conducted within Scotland or the north of England although arrangements can be made for on-site research further afield.
