About us

Yew Tree Genealogy is led by Ruth Bertram, Qualified Genealogist.  She had a career as a Scots lawyer for over 25 years.  On retiring, she decided to learn more about family history and studied at the University of Strathclyde.  She now holds a Postgraduate Diploma in Genealogical, Palaeographic and Heraldic Studies.  As well as the Register of Qualified Genealogists, she is a member of the Scottish Genealogy Society and a number of local family history societies.

Our research

Family History has been Ruth's passion for over 20 years.  Ancestors truly come to life when we know where they spent their days, how they earned a living and the times they lived through.  It's the textural details of people's lives which are so fascinating.
